Brea Gardening Club was 'born' out of our first event of 'Open Gardens in Brea' in 2002 and its members have enjoyed our monthly meetings over the last five years.
As any Secretary/Organiser of a Gardening Club will know, it is not easy to find Speakers related to gardening (who are not too expensive) to fill each meeting, especially after five years and about 50 plus meetings. Consequently we found that we were deviating somewhat from gardening, into the realms of lifeboats, family history and several other non-gardening subjects, all of them, I must add, were very interesting. So as a result of the popularity of these diversions, we thought we might set up a splinter group of the Gardening Club, meeting on a Wednesday afternoon, to enable villagers who are not keen gardeners to try out other activities and, get the Gardening Club back onto a gardening track.
We have decided to call the new group 'Winter Wednesdays', as it is our intention to run this group only during the winter months. We have already set out a programme which includes activities such as; Painting, Local and Family History, Paper Crafts and Book Reading.
The group meets every 2nd and 4th Wednesday afternoon at 2pm in Brea Chapel Hall, commencing on the 10th October through until the end of March. There will be a membership fee and a small contribution at each meeting. These charges will help towards the running costs of the group, hall hire, materials, refreshments etc.
ALL WELCOME! Look forward to seeing you.
